Alternative Funding Network Prepares to Release Research

The Alternative Funding Network is preparing to release data on the crowdfunding industry.  Some initial data points have been released prior to complete launch, including:

  • 91% of equity investors and 82% of debt investors expect to increase their investment funds via a platform in the coming year.
  • In 2013, 14% felt that their alternative investment yielded higher returns – 44.5% felt it yielded some-what higher returns.
  • 75% of investors viewed a greater financial return possible compared to traditional investment models.

Peter ThackwrayPeter Thackwray, Managing Director of GLE Enterprise Development, commented on the initial results;

“There is clearly a large proportion of active investors who gain part of their reward from the joy of testing their skill and judgement to select the best opportunities and balancing their portfolio. There is an important lesson here for Crowdfunding platforms in terms of functionality, feedback, and investor interactivity and communications. Success, in part, it seems is not purely about financial rewards.”

Knowledge Peers will be announcing complete results of the research to be released on April 2nd.
