So not too long ago I was searching for a standing desk and I encountered the exact same issue that Steven Yu discusses in his pitch video. Standing at your desk is known to be good for your health and productivity, but most good ones are ridiculously expensive. My solution at the time was to find a different alternative, but I wish StandDesk had been available back then because this is what I truly need (and still want).

It’s obvious that Steven has connected with an underserved market as the funding goal of $50,000 was hit in the first 40 minutes. That’s incredible. Today the crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter stands at over 460 backers with 3 times the target raised – now at over $185,000. The campaign only started yesterday and closes on May 16th so there is plenty of time for this one to grow and I expect it will. Interest has been growing from not only the US but from around the world.
Steven Yu is not only the founder of this young company but he developed the product as well. From a young age he worked with his father (a mechanical engineer) to design and work on complicated machinery. Taking his passion of marrying business to engineering, he has created the most affordable sit-to-stand desk solution in the world.
Standing desks have become quite the rage. Data proving standing is better than sitting is everywhere these days. From gaining weight, to poor posture, lethargy and productivity. Standing is the clear winner in the battle of desks.
Backers of StandDesk may receive one of their own for a rewards level of $399, shipping in September 2014.. No word on what the price will be post crowdfunding but this pretail campaign is already a huge hit with consumers – and if the price holds – expect a small business to become huge fast.
