With only four days left until the end of its crowdfunding Kickstarter campaign, Me-Mover’s announced it has exceeded expectations and received $210,533 from 276 backers. As previously reported by Crowdfundinsider, the company was seeking to raise $100,000.
The creators of the Me-Mover have taken a step further regarding what it means to crowdfund a project by engaging it backers in crowd-designing accessories for the product such as a carry bag and rack.
The success of Me-Mover’s campaign showcases the need in the market for an alternative method of urban transporation. As cities become over saturated with cars, the search is on for better and greener alternatives. The Me-Mover meets both of these requirements. Its remarkable design allows it to be folded into a small, easy-to-carry size 18” by 13” footprint, letting users easily combined the Me-Mover with public transportation.
The product takes minutes to master and combines the motion of a step machine with the agility of a bicycle. CEO of the tour company BeCopenhagen Søren Herlev Jørgensen, who already ordered twenty of the new vehicles stated, “Our tourists have tried other vehicles and they tell us Me-Mover is the best way to know the city. It can fly along with the cyclists, but it is the only vehicle that also lets them go as slow as pedestrians. For visitors who want choice – to stop, talk to people, smell the flowers, shop the farmer’s market – Me-Mover is the way to go.”
Me-Mover’s campaign has done so well that its currently on its way to being a Kickstarter hit in its category. Supporters will not only be the first to get the Me-Mover but will receive it at a special discounted price and have the opportunity to participate in the development of the Me-Mover’s first accessories.
