World’s Smallest Panoramic Video Camera Seeks To Raise $900k on Kickstarter

CENTR Camera

Hoping to bring new technology to the market, CENTR Camera launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter for its up and coming new interactive panoramic video camera. The product generates 360° HD video in real time on a device that fits in the consumer’s pocket.

CENTR Camera

The company is a small startup that was founded by former members of the iPhone camera team at Apple. The camera combines smartphone hardware and imaging software that lets users capture everything that is happening around them at once.

Bill BantaCEO of CENTR Camera Inc. Bill Banta stated, “CENTR was first conceived back in 2011. Centr was based on ideas I had with friends – we kept noticing how bulky and inhibiting some cameras could be, and we thought there had to be a better way.”

Although it may not be the first device to offer full 360° moving images, it is definitely considered the smallest, simplest and most lightweight. It is based on heavy-duty military cameras that the company has already developed.

The company noted on its Kickstarter, “Buying cameras with similar capability CENTR Cameracosts over $1000 and requires hard to use stitching software. No need to handle several SD Cards or go through the difficult process of aligning images, CENTR Camera does all of the work for you.”

CENTR Camera captures real-time 360° video that records up to 60fps. It has blue-tooth-enabled mobile device controls and has a quick-release battery. The devices holds up to 4K panoramic video resolution along with 20MP time-lapse photos. It also has an individual camera selection for when the user doesn’t want to shoot in 360°.

CENTR CameraAll footage from the CENTR Camera can be viewed through a desktop, smartphone, or tablet in real-time via Wi-Fi through its interactive player. The user can create everything from amazing panoramic time lapses to the ultimate 360° selfie.

CENTR Camera Inc. is seeking to raise $900k, which will help cover expenses and get the product out into the market. The camera will cost $399, but for investors who give to the campaign, they will receive it for $299.

So far the company has raised $310,926 and has 1,100 backers.
