Brief: Kickstarter Burglar Caught Red Handed; Faces Other Theft Charges

Great news for crowdfunding giant, Kickstarter! Not only was the thief who was responsible for the robbery at its headquarters last Wednesday was arrested, he is also facing other burglary charges as well. 

According to DNAinfo New York, the thief, who was identified as 16-year-old Raymond Mersier,was busted for stealing expensive Apple products from a luxury South Williamsburg building a week and a half before sneaking into the platform’s office. The Kings County District Attorney’s office revealed in the earlier incident, Mersier stole two Macbook Pros, an iPad, a backpack and clothing from apartments at the Continental

It was also noted that he and three other suspects, who have yet to be arrested, were seen entering the building by holding the door open after someone left. Video also caught the group leaving, which included one person with a rectangular object while another with a backpack.

Kickstarter Burglary SuspectIn regards to the second burglary authorities also stated that Mersier got into Kickstarter’s headquarters by grabbing the door after a food delivery worker entered. Accompanied by another person, who police have yet to find, Mersier left the building with rectangular objects covered by the second suspect’s shirts.

Mersier has been hit with several charges, including third degree burglary, criminal trespass and possession of stolen property. His next court date is scheduled for October 2nd.
