Toronto-based tech startup, Mass Fidelity, debuted a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo last month for its new wireless speaker system, The Core, with a mission to raise only $48,000. During its 30-day run, the project exceeded its funding goal and also managed to receive $711,229 thanks to 2,000 backers. Not only has the company announced it has extended the campaign for another thirty days, it has also revealed the project has been declared Canada’s most successful project on Indiegogo.
Earlier this week, the campaign’s organizers announced, “We recently found out that the Core is the top-funded Canadian Indiegogo campaign in history. We started with a goal of $48K and have now reached $581K – 1200% of our goal! Thank you to all 1632 of you from over 70 countries around the world for being a part of making this happen. ”
“For the past two weeks our production team has been working like mad to make this happen. We are now able to produce the Core Wireless Subwoofer and we’re adding it to this campaign. This means we will be extending our Indiegogo campaign for an additional month. It goes without saying that the only reason we’re able to do this is because of your support in making this campaign the most successful Canadian Indiegogo campaign in history.”
As previously reported, The Core allows the user to enjoy all of their music throughout their home and beyond with amazing sound. It is s a small, portable and “elegant” speaker system that sounds like two separated full size HiFi speakers with crystal clear midrange and bone shaking bass.
Key features of The Core are:
- Stream an infinite selection of music through Bluetooth: Can play any music through smartphone, tablet, laptop or PC through online streaming sites or the user’s personal music collection. No wires or WiFi required.
- Take it Wherever: The device fits in the user’s hand and has a 12-hour battery life. It’s completely portable, from the living room to the patio.
- Fill every room in the home with music: By pressing one button, the user can connect up to nine Cores to fill their home with multi-room stereo sound.
On Sunday (September 28th), the Mass Fidelity team announced The Core’s new colors. “Since the beginning of the campaign we’ve received suggestions for additional colors of the Core. Initially, our production capacity could not allow us to entertain the idea of offering new colors, but the success of the campaign could make it an option. We asked you: if we can swing it, which color would you love to have?”
“We were interested to learn that most of you wanted to stick with Classic Black (55%)! Based on the feedback that 25% of you would love to have one in White, we will begin the process of testing samples for a White Core. As we don’t want to slow down production of the Black Core, we will initiate research after the campaign and will keep you updated on our progress and timeline for production.”
The campaign is now set to close on November 2nd.
