The SeedInvest initiative is part of an extended strategy to expand their crowdfunding reach by having a localized brand. According to the site a “Local investment and startup community in Texas…Bringing startups and investors together in a simple and streamlined platform”. SeedInvest is reportedly looking at other cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago to expand their crowdfunding service and brand.

Texas recently announced the legalization of investment crowdfunding joining a growing list of states that have decided not to wait on final federal regulations. The combination of retail crowdfunding in a state that is known for its business friendly climate certainly factored in the decision to open up on Texas. The state is also home to a growing number of tech companies and has an established entrepreneur / startup scene – most notably in Austin.
Marc was quoted in the Houston BizJournal on his new gig;
“The reason I joined these guys is because they have the highest chance of finding money for awesome Texas startups that I’ve seen in a long time. We want to be the glue to tie the groups together .. As investors travel from different cities, they want to see great deals.”
The new Texas portion of SeedInvest is live as of today.
