With less than 24 hours until their crowdfunding campaign comes to a close on Kickstarter, the ladies of TLC have not only received well over its initial $150,000 goal thanks to nearly 3,800 backers, but the ladies are also sharing their appreciation for their supporters by re-adding a popular perk that has been sold out.
TLC started in the early 90’s and became a huge sensation throughout the years thanks to their popular hip hop tunes. Unfortunately, the all-girl group experienced a devastating situation in the early 2000’s when bandmate, Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes, died in a car accident. The ladies since have been in and out of the music scene over the years, but are now ready to answer their fans’ prayers with a new album that features new music.
Last month, the TLC ladies, Chilli and Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, launched the crowdfunding initiative for their fifth and final studio album. They wrote,”We owe so much of our success to you. Your loyalty and support throughout the past 20 years motivates us to do our best work. Without you, we wouldn’t have ten top 10 singles and four number 1 singles. We wouldn’t have won five Grammy awards or sold 65 million records worldwide. Without you, we wouldn’t have become the most successful girl group of all time! Without you there would be no TLC!!”
The campaign managed to quickly gain popularity, even attracting celebrities like Katy Perry, and surpassed $150,000 in a matter of days. Now with only hours left, they have decided to announce they are readding the “TLC Fanmail Platinum Album and TLC Career Combo” back to the perks as a thank you.
Chilli and T-Boz wrote,”We decided to make [Fanmail platinum album and career combo] UNLIMITED so all of our fans could have a chance to claim these amazing rewards. Snatch one up NOW! For a recap of what they look like, check update #14.”
Also noting a new(er) perk, the ladies shared, “Y’all might know that our CrazySexyCool album made music history. The record sold over 23 million copies worldwide with huge tracks like Waterfalls, Creep, Digging on You and Red Light Special. In honor of this achievement, the RIAA (Record Industry Association of America) presented TLC with a diamond award that certified the diamond status and 11x platinum status of this album in 1999. We were the first girl group in history to ever receive this reward!!!
“This reward will be as close as you can get to the real thing. One extremely lucky backer will get to own a MEGA HUGE piece of our career and music history. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity! Don’t let it go to waste y’all. Get your hands on this reward before the clock stops ticking tomorrow! See the bottom of this update for an image.
