The co-founders of Hip Chixs recently visited the “Sharks” of Shark Tank to pitch an investment in their company that has developed a line of premium denim jeans that “highlights a women’s natural body”. On Shark Tank Hip Chixs founders asked for a $150,000 investment for 35% equity in their company. The investment pitch explained that Hip Chixs is the “best butt money can buy” (with no more muffin top too). While the Sharks gave some good advice, and even some encouraging comments, none were willing to invest – even the charming Mr. Wonderful.
The duo is now hoping to raise $50,000 on Kickstarter to help fund the company’s growth – to ramp up production and add new styles.
Founded by entrepreneurs, and best friends, Aimee Urista and Megan Jackson, the American-made – Texas based denim company states it has seen “exponential growth of over 150-percent since launching in 2011”. While Hip Chixs products are currently available online for purchase at full price, the company is offering perks and discounts to those who contribute to the Kickstarter campaign.
“We designed Hip Chixs to give women what they wanted – the chance to look and feel comfortable yet sexy in denim year round,” said Aimee Urista, co-founder of Hip Chixs. “With this funding campaign, we hope to continue our goal of giving women the ability to express themselves with their best bottom and look stylish while doing it!”
There have been more than a few Shark Tank pitches that have been turned away by the Sharks but have benefited from the public exposure (and at times harsh criticism) generated by the popular show. The Kickstarter campaign has 30 days to see if the Hip Chixs jeans connect with the crowdfunding audience and if the national exposure will boost the campaign to successfully raise funds.
