On Friday, crowdfunding platform Crowdfunder UK announced a new partnership with Cornwall Cricket to help create a sustainable future for cricket in Cornwall after numbers dropped by 7% in 2014.
The platform shared that The Cornwall Cricket Campaign is being launched to assist, educate and enable clubs across Cornwall to create crowdfunding campaigns, which will be used to fund a wide variety of projects. These may include raising money for cricket kits, to running cricket disability sessions, right through to funding young cricket athletes as they progress their careers in the sport and supporting women in cricket programs.
While sharing his thoughts about the new initiative, CEO of Cornwall Cricket, Sean Hooper, stated:
“By launching the Cornwall cricket crowdfunding campaign we are trying to pull the cricket family together and make Cornwall cricket sustainable. We are going to enable clubs across the county to raise funds and engage their communities.
“We are pushing the boundaries on participation. It’s not only clubs, but women’s cricket, disability cricket, our youth development program and the hundreds of volunteers that make cricket in our communities possible who will benefit from this mass co-operation.”
