Seeking to help those affected by last month’s earthquake in Nepal, crowdfunding platform GoFundMe has announced it will donate $150,000 towards the relief efforts.
The GoFundMe team stated:
“In a continuing effort to aid those affected by the terrible earthquake in Nepal, GoFundMe has made its second donation to AmeriCares, who are providing on-the-ground relief. Combined with last week’s donation, GoFundMe has now donated over $150,000 to Nepal earthquake relief.
“GoFundMe announced on April 27th that it would donate back its 5% fee from Nepal campaigns for the first $5M raised. Thanks to the incredible efforts of the GoFundMe community, our users have already raised nearly $3M in just one week.
“GoFundMe will continue making these donations in regular increments to ensure help is delivered quickly. Our thoughts are with all those in Nepal during this incredibly difficult time.”
The platform also confirmed that campaigns have raised over $3 million for the victims.
