The Equity Market Structure Advisory Committee will be holding a public meeting next week at the SEC. The meeting will be live streamed and available by visiting the SEC web site.
The agenda is presently scheduled to address Rule 611 of SEC Regulation NMS.
Regulation NMS, or National Market System, is the initiative that took once highly fragmented exchanges that used to operate in the US and created a single market system. This was enacted to assure traders were receiving the best bid or offer on a security. The topic of 611 has to do with “trade through exemptions” regarding conditional trading where traders combine a security and a derivative or several derivatives as part of a multi-component transaction.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, May 13th and begin at 9:30AM.
