Richard Branson’s Pitch to Rich Competition Has Multiple Crowdfunded Companies in the Running to Win

Richard Branson Pitch to Rich

Winning a £1 million prize is no small thing.  On June 26th, Richard Branson will reveal the winning company in each category in a live event in London.  Pitch to Rich 2015 is now in the semi-finalist round after winnowing it down from thousands to a few.  The categories include; Start-up, New things and Grow. The 32 semi-finalists include multiple companies that have successfully raised capital by crowdfunding.

Pitch to Rich Categories

Seedrs has two portfolio companies in the running:

Oppo is a miracle company as they have created healthy ice-cream. Who wouldn’t vote for that? Oppo raised over £300,000 earlier this year and since that time, according to Seedrs, the brand has been expanding sales as they gear up for the summer months.

Rare Pink raised £120,000 in 2014 and is currently in the midst of a follow-on offering seeking to raise £400,000 for a 9.09% stake in the firm.  Rare Pink is a service that provides bespoke engagement rings. The company claims an 88% conversion rate for sales by emphasizing exceptional customer service and high quality, ethically sourced diamonds.

Crowdcube has three companies in the running:

Cauli Rice is a low-calorie rice replacement. Same great taste, 80% fewer calories. Hopefully they will launch in the US soon. The company has raised over £900,000 in two separate equity crowdfunding rounds on Crowdcube.

Fourex is a self-service coin and note exchange. The hardware can recognize currencies from over 150 countries and automatically return the currency you really want. No more stacks of coins and currency piling up in a corner somewhere (can they exchange form French Francs? Old Italian Lira?). Fourex raised £673,000 with the backing of 424 investors.

JustPark holds the title of the most amount invested in a company on Crowdcube. More than 2700 investors delivered £3.5 million (or $5.4 million USD) to finance its parking App.

You may vote now to help select the finalists.  Voting is open until June 16th. UK residents only (sorry Yanks).
