New York Times Best Selling Author Jane Green Hits Kickstarter For Her First Cookbook, “Good Taste”

Jane Green, the UK author of 16 New York Times bestselling novels and self-dubbed “slight-trained chef,” has launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter to raise $45,000 for her first ever cookbook, Good Taste.

While describing the new book, Green stated:

Good Taste 1“Good Taste is filled with recipes I have lovingly collected, in some cases adapted, and in a few, created, over the years. The food I gravitate towards is delicious, and easy. I don’t like recipes with lists and lists of ingredients. The ones in this cookbook are uncomplicated, and do not require sautéing for hours or staying enslaved to the stove. There are plenty of appetizers, entrees and desserts, or as this storyteller likes to think of them; beginnings, middles and endings.”

Sharing details about her interest in cooking, Green wrote:

Good Taste 3“Food, and the feeding of people I love, is a passion of mine. I’ve shared recipes on social media, in my books, and in my newsletters throughout the years, and have fed most of the people who have dared set foot in my kitchen. Cooking has always been a huge source of joy, comfort, and inspiration for me. I love cookbooks and have spent countless hours reading them, thinking about them, and obviously cooking from their pages. Deep down I always fantasized about writing my own.”

Also noting why she decided to turn to the crowdfunding platform for help, Green revealed:

Good Taste 2“I’m doing this on Kickstarter because I want to share this process with as many people as possible. It’s a dream come to true to finally take this step, and in the same spirit of wanting to share my kitchen table with family, friends, and neighbors, I want to share this process with all of you. More pragmatically, I also need your help getting it over the finish line.

“Crowdfunding allows me to express myself in a whole new and wonderful way. It allows me to include people in the creative process and share the adventure as never before. Publishing this with Kickstarter means my fingerprints are on every inch of this book, from the recipes and stories, to the sketch I drew for the logo, to styling and cooking the food, to picking the cover and the fonts. I have loved the creative freedom and being able to give my readers and friends what is truly a piece of my heart.”

Good Taste 4Besides the collector’s hardcover edition of the cook book (for $25), those who back the project will receive other various rewards, including recipe bookmarks, signed hardcovers, special menu created  for a dinner party, and more. As a bonus, when backers donate the campaign, they will also receive a signed copy of Green’s next novel, Summer Secrets

Since its launch on Thursday, the campaign has successfully raised nearly $29,000 from over 275 backers. It is set to close on July 14th.
