Continuing to enjoy the success of his new Kickstarter documentary project, For the Love of Spock, Adam Nimoy, the son of Star Trek star Leonard Nimoy, shared details about the new film.
“With the 50th anniversary of the original series coming, and because we had worked so well on a previous documentary together, I approached my father about producing a documentary on the life of Mr. Spock. Spock had never been the subject of a documentary before, and I thought it would be interesting, and my father agreed, if we produced a documentary on the life and legacy of Mr. Spock.
“The documentary will take both a (somewhat) objective view of the life of Mr. Spock, and the career of Leonard Nimoy. But I will also be interjecting some of my personal point-of-view and experiences growing up with my dad. And hopefully the documentary will also include the perspective of other family members.”
Explaining the initial response from fans about the project, Adam stated:
“The response to the Kickstarter and the film in general has been almost universally positive. There was an overwhelming outpouring of emotion after my father’s passing from fans all over the world, and many of these fans have also joined our campaign to help produce this project.”
Also revealing the project’s progress so far, Adam noted:
“Extensive research has already been completed, and we’ve just begun some production in the form of sit-down interviews. But in order to complete this project, it’s essential we have a successful Kickstarter campaign, which is still ongoing.
In regards to who is participating in the film’s production, Adam added:
“I am partnered with a company called 455 Films, which was chosen by my father to help produce this time. I also am thrilled to have the active support and participation of Star Trek alums, William Shatner, George Takei, and Zachary Quinto.”
