Last summer, Washington startup Korner hit Indiegogo to raise funds for its security system. During its funding run, the project raised over $420,000 from 3,100 backers. Now, just a year later, Korner is seeking more funds through equity crowdfunding platform, Fundable.
Korner’s system is designed for apartments and homes so that not only can anyone use it, everyone can afford it. The product also includes iOS and Android app. Its mission is to bring home security to those who really need it the most, but unfortunately was not able to previously afford it. Traditionally, security systems have targeted affluent homeowners, while middle and low income homeowners, also renters, were forced to fend for themselves.
The company shared:
“When Korner detects an intruder in your home, the Fob will let out a piercing screech to ward off the intruder and alert you if you are in your home (sleeping, for example). At the same time, the system will send an alert to your smartphone, and allow you to instantly foward the alert with a push of a button to friends, family and neighbors. You can pre-populate this ‘Security Circle’ during setup from the contacts in your phone.”
Korner noted that its unique design consumes less power by using smaller batters and a smaller tag. The system is just one piece, making it less difficult that having to fumble with pair and aligning other security system. Each tag can also more effectively discern between vibrations and actual entry, which means fewer false alarms for the owner.
Sharing its accomplishments over the past twelve months, Korner explained:
“As we set our sights on the future, Korner is excited to get our product into production, in preparation for a Q1 2015 commercial debut.”
Currently, Korner is making the final preparations to ship to its Indiegogo backers.
