FinFair 2015 took place in Manhattan on July 29th. The event was a combination of old school finance and FinTech entrepreneurs – the disruptive types who are quickly changing the world of finance.
According to event organizer Dara Albright, “Wall Street is about to discover the remarkable amount of financial innovation occurring in the crowd-based retail alternatives space; much of which is emanating out of first generation Marketplace Lending and Equity Crowdfunding platforms. All of this is being made possible by a modern regulatory regime – especially Regulation A+”.
Although Reg A+, only recently actionable, was a hot topic of discussion, the general consensus was internet finance is an opportunity for both established firms and innovative entrepreneurs.
Beyond the fast emerging financing platforms, there are a growing number of support services and affiliated financial firms moving into the disruptive finance space. Many of these firms were in attendance sharing their vision or listening to their fellow entrepreneurs. We are still in the very early days of new finance but things are changing fast.
