Zopa & Peer to Peer Lending at £1 Billion

One Billion DollarsZopa, the first peer to peer lending platform in the UK, recently announced having passed £1 billion in lending.  The lending platform has a trajectory to more than double the total volume of loans versus year prior as more and more consumers go online to apply for credit.  The entire P2P lending industry generated over £500 million in Q2 alone.   • Top 3 UK Cities for P2P Borrowing: London, Glasgow, Manchester
  • Total P2P Lenders (Investors): 61,500
  • Average Size of P2P Loan: £6,500 (according to infographic)
  • There have been over 162,000 loans to 146,000 individuals
  • Historical bad debt since 2005: 0.6%
  • Top 3 types of loans: Car, Debt Consolidation, Home Improvement
  • Over £58 million in interest has been paid to investors
