Spacehop, a London-based startup that’s considered to be known as the “airbnb for workspace,” has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to raise £120,000 goal in return for 10.71% equity.
Spacehop provides a new and unique opportunity for people to share their homes or flats as co-working spaces across the city. The company has already been given a £1 million pound valuation pre-trade.
Founders of Spaceshop, Matthew Beatty and Luke Eastwood, revealed that they moved to London from Northern Ireland after leaving their professions as a doctor and barrister respectively at the beginning of the year. They were shortly joined by Joe Grimes as the CTO to build the unique platform. On Spacehop, freelancers and small businesses also known as ‘hoppers’ easily choose a beautiful and peaceful home to work from that is both affordable and flexible.
Freelance designer Dave Longworth stated:
“One of my biggest challenges as a freelancer is finding somewhere affordable to work everyday’ says ‘co-working spaces are so expensive these days and working from someone’s home sounds like the ideal way for me to find somewhere comfortable and cheap to work from.”
The company shared:
“We truly believe that Spacehop represents an innovative yet relatively low risk proposition for enthusiastic investors – either for a short term return (based on initial access to the London market) or for those interested in a longer term business case which will would be aimed at global success. This will pave the way for a lucrative investor exit through a trade sell. We are also prepared to consider an ambitious IPO at this point with a view to making Spacehop a truly global player given the lack of competitors and the expanding markets in which we will operate.”
Spacehop will be launching in London in early October before heading to North America and major European cities. It is currently in its soft launch.
