Cool flyer. Traffic? What traffic? With 28 days remaining on its Seedmatch campaign, the Rotorvox Gyrocopter team led by CEO Ronald Schoppe is hovering near its €500,000 target with over €428,000 funding secured from over 329 investors.
The Gyrocopter Rotorvox C2A with its full carbon monocoque, which is also used in Formula 1 cars, is characterized by its powerful dynamics, innovative technical details, clear design and excellent aerodynamics.
What is and isn’t a gyrocopter? The gyrocopter is not a helicopter. While the company explains auf Deutsch the complex details of the machine, I deferred to Wikipedia for a more pedestrian explanation. A gyrocopter, also known as an autogyro, gyroplane and rotaplane, is a type of rotorcraft which uses an unpowered rotor in autorotation to develop lift, and an engine-powered propeller, similar to that of a fixed-wing aircraft, to provide thrust. While similar to a helicopter rotor in appearance, the autogyro’s rotor must have air flowing through the rotor disc to generate rotation.
The C2A brings together what previously could not be combined in a Gyrocopter C2A, averred the company:
- Flight characteristics
- Component functionality and reliability
- Attractive design to the smallest detail
- Ergonomics and safety
- Space with high payloads
- Fascinating visibility
Targeting both private and commercial aviators with its ideal sports aircraft, C2A owners can plan on looking down on traffic and fly to appointments and adventure destinations. With a 90 liter tank, long distances can easily be flown without layovers, remarked Rotorvox. Large windows protect passengers from wind without obstructing views, leather seats ensure comfort, which also makes the C2A optimal for sightseeing and tour companies, power companies, air taxi companies and agricultural companies. Honestly, who wouldn’t want a ride in the Rotorvox C2A?
This week Rotorvox was awarded the KfW Award “GründerChampion 2015” for Thüringen. If readers happen to be in Munich this 11 October, they may enjoy a live demonstration at the Schleissheim Airport at 11:00.
