Women changing finance is a group that is growing rapidly but, according to information provided by Coupofly, women in tech is booming.
Culling data from the top 8 tech companies, it appears that women entering tech is growing 238% faster than men and this shift is not slowing down.
Cities with the largest number of tech startups founded by women:
- Chicago at 30%
- Boston at 29%
- Silicon Valley at 24%
The number of tech startups with at least one female founder has jumped too. According to the data, in 2009 only 9.5% claimed to have a female founder. In 2014 that number has jumped to 14%.
Top industry for women: Financial services, energy and manufacturing.
While there is still room for improvement these numbers are quite encouraging.
