Estonia based Bondora has topped a significant milestone. According to the peer-to-peer lender, as of yesterday they have surpassed €50 million in loans. Their base of investors, at last count, stands at 12,641. Their site states these investors come from 37 different countries. Borrowers now number 243,062.
Bondora’s first million euros was completed in November of 2011. During the last 12 months Bondora has issued approximately €20 million in loans. The biggest categories remain loan consolidation, “redecorating” (home improvement) and “other”.
Probably the most interesting aspect of the platform is the high interest rates paid to investors. The average net return by investors stands at 18.19% as of today. The site is also open to accredited investors in the US (anyone over the age of 18 can invest if you are European without the additional verification steps).
