The Securities and Exchange Commission has announced the agenda for the forthcoming Advisory Committee on Small and Emerging Companies (ACSEC) which is scheduled to meet next week on February 25th. ACSEC provides a formal mechanism for the SEC to receive advice and recommendations on small businesses and publicly traded companies with a market capitalization less than $250 million. The smaller companies are widely recognized as the engine of economic growth and prosperity for the country.
ACSEC was recently reconfigured with several prominent members being removed and many new additions. Sara Hanks, a veteran of the committee, was promoted to co-Chair of the group. This next meeting with address the capital formation landscape for SMEs, including data on capital raised in unregistered securities offerings. It should be interesting.
