Brief: “Made in Chelsea’s” Jamie Laing Calls Off Candy Kittens Seedrs Campaign; Attracts Private Investors

Candy Kittens 4With less than a week until Candy Kittens’ Seedrs campaign was supposed to end, founder and Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing announced that he was officially canceling the initiative after receiving support from a private investor.

Candy Kittens 3Available in seven different flavors, Candy Kittens are gluten free and made from all natural flavors, priced from £1.49. Fans can buy their sweet treats direct from the Candy Kittens website or can take out a monthly subscription to exclusive new products.

In the last two years, Candy Kittens has turned its attention to discovering young, driven entrepreneurs of the future and offering over 100 internships as well as developing roles such as Student Brand Managers and Brand ambassadors – “The Sweet Team.” The firm has taken on three full time employees, who will join the Fulham-based team during 2016.

While sharing details about the campaign cancellation, Laing and Candy Kittens’ managing director, Ed Williams, stated:

Candy Kittens 5“We still see crowdfunding as an excellent option. We would not have had this offer had it not been for the crowdfunding – we have had over 360 investors generating 80 per cent [of our target] which gives this person sufficient confidence. We see the crowdfunding as a success and are happy with what Seedrs did. We may return to it, but it makes more sense now that the money is from two or three rather than 360.”
