Crowdcube Spain Brief: Garage Beer Co. Taps Crowd for Campaign Preregistration

After just 11 months of brewing Barcelona-based Garage Beer Co “maxed out” their brewery capacity. Jointly announced by Crowdcube Spain MD Pepe Borrell and Garage Beer’s website, the brewer is in the works to build a bigger plant and is looking to the crowd — not banks –to help will the next stage of their venture. 400.000€ is reserved for crowd investment.

“Excited to announce that Garage Beer Co, one of the top breweries in Barcelona, turned down big investor & banks offers to do a crowdequity round with us,” noted Borrell on LinkedIn.  “Just like in the UK or United States, the craft beer sector is growing exponentially in Spain. Garage Beer is the pioneer and leading brewery in Barcelona, and they will be the first crowdfunded brewery in Barcelona.”

Brewers have been well-supported by the crowdfunders. Think Brewdog, UBrew, Chapel Down. Launched last year, Garage Beer Co is already one of the main craft breweries in Barcelona.  UK Co-Founder James Welsh left the tech world to focus on something more meaningful — beer — and his efforts have been met with success. The craft brewers have quite a following, and their beer has been ranked Nr.1 in Untappd. More campaign to details to follow…
