Less than two weeks after its Kickstarter debut, Mobvoi‘s Ticwatch 2 has successfully secured nearly $950,000 thanks to 5,100 backers. The Chinese tech startup launched the crowdfunding campaign for the new interactive watch and secured its initial $50,000 funding goal in ten minutes.
As previously reported, Ticwatch 2 is known as an intuitive interaction watch that is lifestyle convenient and also provides an innovative design along with a unique Ticwear OS. Users can do various things with the watch, including check their health and track fitness, look up the weather forecast and find their phones. It also has voice search, making it easier for users to find what they are looking for such as browse local restaurants, make phone calls, and reply to messages.
The Mobvoi team explained the Ticwatch 2 is pre-loaded with a series of useful apps such as ‘Dialer,’ ‘Calendar,’ ‘Heath,’ and ‘Fitness.’ All the apps were notably designed specifically for optimal smartwatch functionality. The watch is also compatible with Android Wear Apps, iPhone, and Android (system requirement: iOS 8.0 and Android 4.3+). Ticwatch will also have an App Store, which users can download more apps on Android Devices, with iOS users being able to gain access to more built-in apps and features through frequent OTA updates.
The company also noted
“A watch should look like a watch. We forged Ticwatch 2 in collaboration with world class designers, including award-winning Scandinavian designer, Mika Nenonen. Our relentless dedication toward the perfection of every detail has allowed us to successfully combine both functionality and fashion. Our design reflects the principles that we persist: simplicity, quality, and craftsmanship.”
Other design features include invisible tick, watch faces for every occasion, and personalized bands. Those looking to purchase the watch may do so through the Kickstarter campaign currently starting at $139 (early birds were able to receive the device for only $99).
After successfully securing half a million, Mobvoi announced it will be offering customize orders.
“If the combination you want is not available, you can choose to pledge a certain amount, in addition to the reward you’ve selected. You can add no more than 10 watches on top of your reward. After the campaign is finished, we will send out a survey to collect your shipping address and your choice of models; kindly put your choice into the survey comments section, and we will send your extra watch(es) along with your reward, with no extra shipping fee.”
The campaign is set to close at the end of August.
