Kickstarter Announces New Feature: Backers Can Now Follow Creators Directly & Be First to Find Out When Projects Launch

Kickstarter

On Wednesday, Kickstarter announced a new feature that allows backers to follow their favorite project creators directly and be the first to know when upcoming projects launch. The crowdfunding platform stated that starting this week, backers will be notified when they’ve backed a project that’s just getting off the ground.

Kickstarter 3There are thousands of creative projects on Kickstarter at any given moment, and following creators you admire to get a sense of what inspires them is a great way to explore projects that are likely to speak to you — or to discover something completely unexpected and delightful.”

The Kickstarter team also revealed:

We also hope this feature will inspire you to expand your horizons by discovering creators outside of your immediate network. Since Kickstarter’s launch, 262,615 creators from all over the world have launched 313,023 projects across the creative universe.”

They then added:

“As a creator, reaching new backers is key to growing your audience over time. Millions of backers all over the world enthusiastically look to Kickstarter for what’s next. The Follow feature is a way to connect with the Kickstarter community even after your initial project is complete.”

KickstarterThis new feature comes just one day after Kickstarter announced $100 mill has been given to pledged to publishing projects since its debut in 2009. The  website confirmed:

Since we launched seven years ago, authors, publishers, book shops, poets, podcasters, and more have brought their creative projects to life with the generous support of the Kickstarter community. More than a million people from around the world have gotten behind over 30,000 Publishing projects on Kickstarter, helping nearly 10,000 of them come to life. This outpouring of support for the inspired ideas of creators committed to writing, storytelling, and culture is incredible. And the projects funded reflect the breadth and diversity of writers, readers, and storytellers around the world.”
