It’s finally here – on Friday, hip-hop band De La Soul released their first full-length album in 11 years, and the Anonymous Nobody. The group, which consists of Vincent Mason, David Jude Jolicoeur, and Kelvin “Posdnous” Mercer, took to Kickstarter last year with a mission to raise only $110,000 for the album and within hours of its debut, the initiative successfully secured its initial goal and by the end of its round raised over $600,000.
The album consists of collaborations with various artists such as Snoop Dogg, Usher, Little Dragon and 2Chainz. Its tracks are listed below.
- Genesis (Feat. Jill Scott)
- Royalty Capes
- Pain (Feat. Snoop Dogg)
- Property of Spitkicker. Com (Feat. Roc Marciano)
- Memory of… (Us)[Feat. Estelle & Pete Rock]
- Lord Intended (Feat. Justin Hawkins)
- Snoopies (Feat. David Bryne)
- Greyhounds (Feat. Usher)
- Sexy Bitch
- Drawn (Feat. Little Dragon)
- Whoodeeni (Feat. 2Chainz)
- Nosed Up
- You Go Dave (A Goldblatt Presentation)[ Feat. David Goldblatt]
- Here in After (Feat. Damon Albarn)
Originally set to be delivered on April 29th, De La Soul announced that they had to push back and the Anonymous Nobody until later this summer. This delay was because the band needed permission to feature their collaborations on the album from labels:
“Playing the part of the label; it has been a learning experience for us. Of course we want you guys; the funders, the supporters to get this project first, but we also want the world to have it and in that, we had to find a distribution deal. We had to find someone who can get this project to you and everyone else around the world. So finally, we’ve partnered with Kobalt music, and they’re going do an excellent job at making sure this De La album gets the exposure and is everywhere for everyone to purchase it.”
