Less than two weeks after release Kickstarter-funded album, And the Anonymous Nobody, De La Soul’s highly anticipated record has already hit number one on Billboard’s Top Rap Albums (dated September 17th). According to Billboard, the album already leads the chart with 21,000 copies sold last week. The media outlet also reported the album is currently number three on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
De La Soul, made up of bandmates Vincent Mason, David Jude Jolicoeur, and Kelvin “Posdnous” Mercer, took to the crowdfunding platform last year to raise only $110,000 for the album and within hours of its debut, the initiative successfully secured its initial goal and by the end of its round raised over $600,000. The album consists of collaborations with various artists such as Snoop Dogg, Usher, Little Dragon and 2Chainz. Its tracks are listed below.

Originally set to be delivered on April 29th, De La Soul announced that they had to push back and the Anonymous Nobody release until late August. Despite the delay, it seems the group’s supporters remain devoted and excited about the album’s debut. Following the record’s release, the band also revealed their new documentary, which features the campaign launch and the album’s development.
