Playtonic Games, the creators of the Kickstarter-funded video game, Yooka Laylee, unveiled its new trailer that featured Yacht Club Games’ Shovel Knight as a guest star. Shovel Knight, which was also funded by the crowdfunding platform’s backers in 2013, is the main character in a 2D side-scrolling platform game. The game was initially released in 2014 for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U. It is now available for all gaming systems, including PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and Xbox One.
Yooka-Laylee is a 3D platforming adventure for consoles and PC. During its run on the crowdfunding giant’s platform, the video game successfully captured £2,090,104 from 73,206 backers. Playtonic Games launched the funding initiative with the intention to raise only $175,000 for 90’s Banjo-Kazooie successor and within only a matter of days, the project not only surpassed its initial goal, it secured $1.3M. The game is set to be released in early 2017.
