Following the firebombing of the Republican Party’s North Carolina headquarters, Democratic Party supporters secured over $13,000 on GoFundMe to help rebuild the building.

According to the campaign’s description, the incident happened in the early morning of October 16th. The building was firebombed and has abhorrent threats painted on its outside wall. Republican presidential candidate, Donald Trump addressed the situation on Twitter and stated that those were responsible supported his opponent, Hillary Clinton and the democratic party.

Fortunately, no one was hurt and democratic supporter, David Weinberger, decided to launch the campaign hours after the incident occurred and sought to raise $10,000. He shared:

As Democrats, we are starting this campaign to enable the Orange County, North Carolina Republican office to re-open as soon as possible. Until an investigation is undertaken, we cannot know who did this or why. No matter the result, this is not how Americans resolve their differences. We talk, we argue, sometimes we march, and most of all we vote. We do not resort to violence by individuals or by mobs.”

Within less than an hour, the initiative secured its initial funding goal. Weinberger tweeted later in the day:

The campaign has since been closed, with Weinberger suggesting that those who looked to donate should consider contributing funds to the North Carolina education system through DonorsChoose.
