woodmore-elementaryYesterday afternoon six children were killed when their school bus crashed into a tree in Chattanooga, Tennessee; in addition, nearly two dozen Woodmore Elementary School students were taken to the hospital after the accident.  The driver of the bus, Johnthony Walker, has been charged with vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment and reckless driving, according to the New York Times.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been organized by Kimberly Mathis seeking donations for the families has raised just over $1K. Mathis will work with the Hamilton County Department of Education, Woodmore Elementary School and other Hamilton County personnel to insure that the money secured from the campaign goes to the Woodmore Elementary School families affected by this tragic event, and would be grateful for any donations received.

Another campaign set up by Kelly Chambley on behalf of the Families of Woodmore Elementary to help families defray the funeral and hospital costs.

“A group of us are partnering to leverage support for the families of the victims. Donations made to this go fund me will go directly to the families of the 6 children who passed away,” cited the campaign. “Money will primarily be used to lift practical financial burdens related including special and basic needs and any needed therapy.”

At this writing the campaign has raised over $3,100 toward the $50,000 goal.
