Less than two weeks after launching its Crowdcube campaign, cycling apparel brand Le Col has successfully secured more than £400,000 from over 50 investors. The company launched the initiative with a funding target of £1 million.

le-col-1As previously reportedLe Col was established in 2009 and is manufactured in Italy. The brand currently sells its products to more than countries worldwide through a range of specialist retailers, such as Harrods Cycling Concession. It was revealed:

Le Col is a premium cycling apparel brand conceived from an obsessive desire for perfection. The brand ambition was to create beautiful, performance enhancing clothing, that gives cyclists every advantage. Using Yanto’s professional insights, and continuous rider feedback, Le Col strives to design and manufacture the most technical and innovative products available in order to improve the rider’s experience in all climates and seasons.”

During a recent interview with Crowdcube’s Luke Lang, retired professional racing cyclist and founder of Le Col, Yanto Barker, shared more details about the cycling apparel brand.

Firstly, I needed to build myself a job for when I retire. I had this idea when I was 28 years old so I have been preparing for a while, secondly, I truly believe we can make better products than other brands. Last of all I am inspired to work in teams that excel, and this business offers me the chance to build a team and motivate people to achieve really great results, who also enjoy and feel fulfilled in their roles.”

le-col-3He then added why he and his team turned to Crowdcube for the campaign:

“I do business based on relationships. I rate good people highly and Crowdcube demonstrated a clear similarity in their values, which I noticed and appreciated. Of course, you guys have done extremely well with your business over recent years, and I hope to be able to share in some of that success with overlapping our incentives to create a successful pitch.”

Funds from the Crowdcube campaign will be used to raise brand awareness through marketing across all channels,  expansion into new markets, and hiring more personnel. The initiative is set to close in mid-December.
