“Just Add Wine” Creator The Surrey Cook Launches Crowdcube Campaign


The Surrey Cook, the company behind the “Just Add Wine” product, recently launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube with a mission to raise £87,000 in expansion costs. Founded just one year ago, The Surrey Cook’s Just Add Wine product helps create a new way cooks any dish or recipe with real wine, without the hassle or expense of having to buy or open a bottle of wine. The company stated:

surrey-cook-1“Each little sachet contains the concentrated equivalent of a 175ml glass of full-bodied red wine, sourced from the vineyards of Southern France. Within a few weeks of launch, Just Add Wine secured a nationwide listing with Sainsbury’s and we’re now in 286 stores across the country. We are also in Sainsbury’s online grocery store, sold through local independents around Surrey and available from our own online store.”

Just Add Wine has been already a big success for The Surrey Cook and was even named Product of the Month in The Retail Bulletin & The Healthy Food Guide. It also reached the semi-finals, from thousands of entrants, in this Summer’s Richard Branson VOOM2016 awards.

“In less than 12 months, we’re just beginning to establish ourselves in the almost £1 billion cooking sauces and accompaniments sector in the UK, with plans underway to begin exporting our product. This includes the USA where specialty cooking ingredients are worth US $100 billion.”

Funds from The Surrey Cook’s Crowdcube campaign will be used for marketing cost, which the company admits that it has little to none so far. In return for investments, the company is now offering 15.08% in equity. So far, the initiative has secured more than £20,000. It is set to close at the end of January
