Indiegogo Pulls the Plug on Titan Note After the Swedish Transcription Project Surpasses $1.1 Million

Just after Swedish project, Titan Note, secured more than $1 million through its Indiegogo campaign and moved to InDemand, the global crowdfunding platform reportedly pulled the plug on the initiative and is now under review by the Trust & Safety Team.

The Titan Note was described as a recording, and transcription device that accurately takes, summarizes, and translates spoken words. Titan Note notably uses 360-degree, noise-canceling microphones to filter out the background noise and improve the accuracy of the text. The device’s transcriptions only have a few seconds of delay, and the error rate is similar to what the human error rate is for speech. Jansson previously stated:

“We think Titan Note is a groundbreaking product, not just for students, but for almost anyone. Titan Note can be of use to doctors, lawyers, writers, musicians and more. It can also be a very helpful device for someone suffering from a condition that makes it difficult for them to physically take notes or focus. Titan Note isn’t a recorder and it isn’t just for quick thoughts. It can record entire lectures and speeches. It’s one of the most advanced of its kind.”

According to the Verge, the project’s creators published a video showing a prototype of the Titan Note being used. Unfortunately, the transcription was slower than expected. The media outlet also confirmed that the project’s suspension was due to a violation of the platform’s terms of use and that all backers will receive refunds. The creators of the Titan reportedly have not responded to Indiegogo’s actions yet.
