WiseAlpha, a UK online lending platform that gives everyday investors access to high yield institutional bond and loan investments, has raised over £909K on its Crowdcube, 180% over its original target, with days remaining. Originally offering 8.92% equity, WiseAlpha has taken it up a notch, offering 12.43%. The highest amount by a single investor — at this writing investor count is 780 — was £150,000 prior to the campaign.
Pre-valued at £6,402,630, WiseAlpha indicated that funding will be utilized to expand into Europe, “defying Brexit gloom”. Funding will also be used to enhance the platform’s product offering, adding further automation to its online platform and boosting digital marketing for user growth. WiseAlpha’s online lending platform aims to give retail investors and corporates access to senior secured and high yield bond investments – with yields ranging from 5-15% pa1- that were previously only available to pensions funds, funds, investment banks and ultra high net worth individuals.
WiseAlpha founder and CEO Rezaah Ahmad is no stranger to successful crowdfunding campaigning, having secured £579,150 during its first Crowdcube campaign in July 2016. The company now counts more than 1,550 registered members and has also launched more than 25 different senior secured loans and high yield bonds in market leading UK companies such as Virgin Media, The AA and Pizza Express paying out more than £100,000 in income to investors.
In February 2017 WiseAlpha also secured £400,000 from its platform investors to launch its WiseAlpha Investment bond, a diversified 8% corporate fixed income product across wiseAlpha investments. The company said that it will expand this bond programme over the next few weeks and offer a £250 as a Welcome Bonus to new account openers. The pitch, which is registered for EIS tax relief, will remain open for investment for 9 more days.
To date, Crowdcube’s 405,594+ members have invested over £317,198,068 in platform pitches, with 533 successful pitches and counting. Other popular live pitches on the site include Madrid distillery Santamanía (which swiftly raised £183,550 from 52 investors since launching) the nutritionally-balanced subscription children’s snack box Chewymoon (overfunding at £153,139+) and Redchurch Brewery (£313,240+ raised).
