Defying Brexit Gloom: UK Online Lender WiseAlpha Exceeds £627K During Second Crowdcube Run

WiseAlpha, a UK online lending platform that gives everyday investors access to high yield institutional bond and loan investments, has raised over £627,000 on its Crowdcube return in just 7 days, coming in at 125% over its original target. More than 433 investors have invested in return for 8.92% equity. The highest amount by a single investor was £150,000 for the platform pre-valued at £6,402,630.

WiseAlpha will use funding to expand into Europe, “defying Brexit gloom”. The platform also intends to enhance its product offering, add further automation to its online platform and boost digital marketing for user growth. WiseAlpha’s online lending platform aims to give retail investors and corporates access to senior secured and high yield bond investments – with yields ranging from 5-15% pa1-  that were previously only available to pensions funds, funds, investment banks and ultra high net worth individuals.

“Institutional debt offers compelling returns – markedly different from the much smaller returns on offer in the retail corporate bond market. We believe in a fairer investment world where everyday investors aren’t shut out by the financial elite from accessing the biggest and best investments. It is fantastic to see how quickly the crowd is backing our business and sharing in our vision.  I would like to thank our investors for their continued support,” said wiseAlpha founder and CEO Rezaah Ahmad. “We believe that lending to some of the largest and most established UK companies, with proven track records and market leading positions is a win-win for the discerning investor.  This round of funding will enable us to enhance our product offering, providing greater choice of investment opportunities to our members and start to plan for our long term ambition of creating a pan European and ultimately global retail market place for fixed income investments.”

WiseAlpha first Crowdcube campaign nabbed £579,150 in July 2016 to help aid founder Ahmed, a Deutsche Bank M&A and Leveraged finance alum, launch the platform. Since then the company counts more than 1,550 registered members and has also launched more than 25 different senior secured loans and high yield bonds in market leading UK companies such as Virgin Media, The AA and Pizza Express paying out more than £100,000 in income to investors.

In February 2017 wiseAlpha secured £400,000 from its platform investors to launch its wiseAlpha Investment bond, a diversified 8% corporate fixed income product across wiseAlpha investments. The company will expand this bond programme over the next few weeks. The pitch is registered for EIS tax relief. New account openers receive up to £250 as a Welcome Bonus. WiseAlpha’s pitch remains open for investment for another 17 days.
