Downing Adds New Specialist Energy Investment Manager to Executive Team

London-based investment manager, Downing LLP, has added Sean Moore, previously of Green Investment Bank, to its growth and energy investment team. In his new role, Moore will join the 35-strong investment team at Downing to build deal origination, with an emphasis on both growth and energy investment opportunities. Downing is the operator of Downing Crowd, an investment crowdfunding platform.

Moore previously held the role of Vice President at the Green Investment Bank, where he worked on energy and infrastructure deals, including onshore renewable, energy efficiency and energy storage projects. Prior to this he was an associate for the leverage finance team at ING Bank. He holds a BA in Economics from the University of Cambridge.

Downing LLP has funded over 100 renewable energy projects since 2010 totaling more than £400 million, including solar power, onshore wind and biomass. Investors via the company number over 35,000.

“Sean’s knowledge of both the energy sector and the financing required for this area of the market makes him an invaluable addition to our Investment Team and we are very pleased to welcome him to Downing,” commented Chris Allner, Downing LLP Partner and Head of Investments. “Energy infrastructure investment has been a core part of Downing’s business historically and, as the sector is evolving, we are seeing plenty of fresh investment opportunities brought with it such as energy storage while more traditional areas of the market including solar, wind and biomass continue to perform well for our investors too.”
