With its Crowdcube campaign set to close on Friday evening, UK-based Much Better Adventures will complete the crowdfunding round with more than 900,000 in funding thanks to over 600 investors. As previously reported, the company was launched with a mission to “unearth” the world’s best local guides, hosts, and places to stay. It was revealed:
“We want to help more people discover the amazing experiences they offer, while helping passionate small businesses make a great living doing what they love, funneling money into local encores and incentivizing conservation.”
Over the past six months, Much Better Adventures has achieved the following:
- £3.1 million sales with a net loss of -£328k
- 6518 passengers
- Repeat bookings up 258%
- Average repeat adventure booker doing 2.37 trips inside 12 months
Much Better Adventures also noted that it has received various awards, including Best for Travel Experiences, Travolution 2016, Innovation in Travel Finalists, 2017, UK Fast Growth Business award, Future Travel Leaders, Top 100 startups in the UK, Top 50 Travel Websites of all Time byThe Guardian, Travel Tip of the Month by Independent, Best of Travel on the Web by BBC, and Spark of Genius Start Up by Mashable.
“We’re moving from an era of mass tourism to mass-niche tourism. In an experience-hungry world, everyone is an adventurer seeking to do more with their free time. We assess the global spend on adventure, active and nature travel worldwide to be over £455bn, and to be growing 65%/year, with the UK along spending £18bn/year.”
Funds from the equity crowdfunding campaign will be used to continue Much Better Adventures’ platform.
