With less than a week until its equity crowdfunding campaign closes on Crowdcube, UK-based whisky distillery The Lakes Distillery is set to close the funding round with nearly £1.6 million in funding from more than 2450 investors.
As previously reported, The Lakes Distillery opened in 2014 and claims to be England’s largest whisky distillery. It has received over 100,000 visitors annually and has sold more than 160,000 bottles of premium gin, vodka, and blended whisky. The distillery also revealed that it was voted one of the top 5 best new distilleries in the world by Time Out USA. It stated:
“Located in the Lake District National Park, we have so far produced the equivalent of over 600,000 bottles of whisky spirit with an estimated £30m of retail value. Whilst this spirit is maturing, we have crafted a portfolio of premium spirit brands, including The Lakes Gin, The Lakes Vodka, The ONE British Isles Blended Whisky, and a range of flavoured liqueurs all of which contributed to sales of over 175,000 bottles since 2015.
“We believe our single malt whisky will be our defining moment; we want to set the standard for new world whisky so funds raised will allow us to increase our investment in stock. We look forward to telling the world about our spirit and bringing you on our journey in making whisky history.”
Funds from the initiative will be used to continue the distillery’s expansion. The campaign is set to close this upcoming weekend.
