Amazon Acquires Kickstarter Funded Home Monitoring Camera Startup Blink

Kickstarter alum and home monitoring camera startup, Blink, recently announced it has been acquired by online retail giant, Amazon. This news comes just two years after the company secured $5.8 million from private investors. As previously reported, Blink surfaced on the crowdfunding platform in 2014 and secured over $1 million from nearly 7,000 backers.

The company revealed in a blog post the exciting news by stating:

“We’re excited to announce that Blink has been acquired by Amazon! Since launching in early 2016, we’ve been thrilled by your response to our ultra-affordable, truly wire-free video home security cameras and monitoring systems. If you own one of our systems, nothing changes for now. We’ll continue to operate under the Amazon umbrella selling and supporting the same great products you know and love. It’s Day 1 for us at Amazon, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can deliver to our customers together.”

Blink reported that its suite of wirefree HD security cameras provide a peace of mind that allows consumers to see what is going on at home from anywhere in the world and be alerted to potential danger if and when it exists. They can be installed by anyone in minutes, have no wires and all Blink cameras run on 2 AA lithium batteries for two years. The company shared:

“Blink has helped customers around the world combat countless cases of home burglary and package theft, keeping families safe and feeling secure at home and away.”
