Revolut officially launched its cryptocurrency feature, allowing all Revolut customers to buy, hold and exchange cryptocurrencies in-app in seconds, as the innovative fintech platform sticks to its mission and continues to disrupt traditional banking by mainstreaming cryptocurrencies.
“We have been amazed by the incredible demand of our cryptocurrency feature and are delighted to begin opening it up to all Revolut users,” stated Revolut CEO and Founder Nikolay Storonsky. “Now that we have upgraded and tested our systems, we are able to cope with demand and will avoid disrupting the service for everyone else by rolling this feature out gradually, starting with our Premium customers.”
All Revolut customers may also join the waiting list and gain access to the exclusive cryptocurrency feature allowing users to buy Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ether in 25 currencies. In a further move to offer frictionless exposure to cryptocurrency, customers will be able to buy cryptocurrency in all 25 base currencies, eliminating foreign exchange fees for those looking to buy their cryptocurrencies in currencies such as Swiss Franc or Polish Zloty..@RevolutApp Unlocks #Cryptocurrencies for Everyone! The entire exchange will reportedly take just 30 seconds, making Revolut the fastest and easiest way to buy and sell cryptocurrency. Revolut customers can then securely hold their cryptocurrency within the Revolut app or transfer their Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum to other Revolut customers instantly, and for free.
This news follows the launch of the cryptocurrency feature in December, which opened up access to Premium customers and those who successfully referred three friends, allowing Revolut to cope with the incredible demand of the new, exclusive feature.
Since launching in July 2015, Revolut has disrupted the sector. With Revolut, customers can set up an app-based current account in 60 seconds, spend abroad in over 130 currencies with no fees, hold and exchange 25 currencies in-app and send free domestic and international money transfers with the real exchange rate.
In just two years, London-based Revolut has reportedly signed 1M+ customers across Europe and processed 80 million transactions with a total volume transaction of $9B to date. Revolut has raised a total of $90m from investors including Index Ventures and Ribbit Capital.
