BriefCam, a tech firm that transforms raw video into actionable intelligence and OurCrowd portfolio company, has been acquired by Canon, Inc. a global leader in digital imaging solutions. According to information provided by the company, the addition of BriefCam to Canon’s Network Video Solutions products portfolio complements the Group’s previous acquisitions of AXIS Communications and Milestone Systems with a breakthrough, innovative video content analytics solution. Briefcam has the ability to process video and recognize and extract objects, along with information about the type and attributes of those objects, such as people, bags, vehicles, and more.
The acquisition will drive further innovation in video analytics by BriefCam as well as new co-innovation activities with Canon and its portfolio companies. Additionally, it will enable BriefCam to enter new markets, deliver stronger vertical solutions, and serve its global customers even more effectively. BriefCam will continue to remain an open platform, working seamlessly with other third party products in the market ecosystem, providing customers with freedom of choice.

The acquisition of Briefcam by Canon makes this the 21st exit for crowdfunding platform OurCrowd. The global crowdfunding platform recently reaffirmed its intent to top $1 billion in investment at some point in 2018 as it continues to expand its operations internationally. OurCrowd is positioned to be the largest investment crowdfunding platform in the world.
