Just two hours after launching the pre-sale of its equity crowdfunding round on Crowdcube, Harts Group Ltd, the parent company of Barrafina and Quo Vadis restaurants, successfully raised its initial 750,000 funding target. The funding round went official live on the funding portal and so far has secured nearly 1.9 million from more than 500 investors.
Harts Group describes itself as an independent restaurant group that is food and quality driven; independently ran and personally managed. The company reported it owners Quo Vadis, a British restaurant that offers produce-led food from chef Jeremy Lee, and Barrafina, a restaurant that offers Spanish tapas, counter bar dining and private event space. While sharing details about the restaurants, Harts Group reported:
“The original Barrafina opened in Soho in 2007, and in 2014 and 2015 there opened two more, at Adelaide Street and Drury Lane in Covent Garden. In 2014, Barrafina Soho was awarded a Michelin Star, which been has retained since. In 2016, Observer Food Monthly awarded Adelaide Street, Restaurant of the Year. The Harts took on Quo Vadis in 2008, with Jeremy Lee joining in 2012. In 2013 the restaurant was awarded the Tatler Award for best kitchen. In Esquire’s 2018 Food Issue, Quo Vadis’ Smoked Eel Sandwich was dedicated a full page as an ‘Object of Desire.'”
Harts Group then stated it will open the biggest Barrafina yet at Coal Drops Yard, Kings Cross in Fall 2018. There will be 34 covers inside, 60 on the terrace, and a private dining room accommodating 20. Funds from the Crowdcube round will be used to continue the restaurant group’s growth and expansion. The campaign is currently set to close mid-July.
