On Tuesday, crowdfunding platform Pledge It announced it was introducing 0% platform fees for all campaign organizers. The funding portal reported that it will no longer charge a platform fee based on the amount raised by a campaign and instead of charging organizers a fee, it will present donors the option to give Pledge It a “voluntary tip” to support the platform’s mission.
Founded in 2014, Pledge It “empowers” teams and athletes to raise money based on their gameday performance. Fans can pledge for every home run, touchdown, or goal scored to raise funds for their cause. While sharing more details about the new fee policy, Scott Shirley, Founder and CEO of Pledge It, stated:
“From the beginning, Pledge It’s mission has been to provide individual athletes and teams a platform to drive positive social change. We’re incredibly excited about our 0% platform fee, because it allows us to reach even more people and amplify their impact. We understand that every dollar counts when you’re supporting a cause. We also believe there are so many that share our passion for making a difference that we can rely on the generosity of our donor community to continue to provide a best-in-class solution.”
Pledge It added its 0% platform fee will go into effect for all campaign organizers starting in mid-July.
