Overfunding: Wireless Internet Service Provider Wildanet Surpasses £1 Million Funding Target on Crowdcube

Wildanet, a UK-based wireless internet service provider (WISP), has secured the initial £1 million funding target through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube. Founded in 2017, Wildanet describes itself as a company that provides fast wireless internet access to rural and hard to reach areas.

“We will be rolling out a wireless network across Cornwall in the coming year and are keen to talk with businesses and individuals who operate or live in more rural or remote locations – or indeed, just struggle with consistent broadband access which impacts the business or day to day use of the internet. We offer speeds that start at 30Mbps and can customise provision for businesses to allow more productive and efficient working from remote locations.”

Wildanet also reported that a successful trial in Gweek has resulted in some early delighted customers and full marketing is now underway. Its management team believes the quality of service and simple pricing structure will help the company obtain over 12,000 customers in the next 3 years.

Competition in Cornwall (which is consistently lacking), means little choice and is why Wildanet plan to focus there immediately to grab a large market share. In 5 months they have built an Operations Centre as well as network around The Lizard, passing over 4,000 homes and businesses – a hugely cost effective passing rate compared to fibre or satellite.”

Funds from the Crowdcube will be used to continue the growth and expansion of the Wildanet service. The funding round is currently set to close at the beginning of November.
