Crowdfunding: Startupxplore Claims to be Spain’s Largest Online Startup Network

In a release, equity crowdfunding platform Startupxplore stakes a claim as being “Spain’s largest online startup investors network.” The statement is based on Startupxplore having  14,703 registered individual investors. The site was launched in 2016 and reports having funded €6.5 million in 28 different deals.  Startupxplore is regulated by Spain’s National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). The company says that its funding success rate stands at 94%.

Startupxplore states that it diversifies its portfolio by co-investing alongside Spanish accelerators, including Seedrocket, Lanzadera, as well as platforms like Plug&Play and Wayra.

The site states that smaller investors get to participate alongside lead or “reference'” investors under the same terms. Startupxplore describes itself as a “Digital VC.”

“Venture capital hasn’t changed in a relevant way in the past 50 years, and we believe new spaces are necessary for companies to meet capital in current open and technology markets,” stated Javier Megias, Startupexplore’s CEO.  “We were born to disrupt the current VC model by applying crowdfunding tech stack to Venture Capital while offering a solid revenue model to our investors.”

Startupxplore targets seed rounds ranging from €100,000 to €500,000. Going forward, Startupxplore plans to expand beyond the early stage market in Spain.
