Crowdfunding platform Republic announced on Thursday that SaaS platform, Baloonr, was named the winner of the second season of Meet the Drapers, which is a crowdfunding TV series that allows “regular” people to become investors.
Meet the Drapers is described as a reality TV show where you can invest in contestants’ companies, in real time. Each episode features three startups pitching to three generations of the Draper family, and a celebrity guest. Each of the judges will ask the founders very difficult questions. Watch entrepreneurs pitch, and decide which company deserves your investment. invest in their breakthrough ideas for a chance to multiply your investment if they succeed.
Balloonr describes itself as a SaaS platform that is looking to improve enterprise collaboration and decision-making by removing costly biases and surfacing anonymous ideas and feedback.
“Balloonr is a platform to address how humans actually share information and make decisions. We built Balloonr from the ground-up – based on hundreds of studies across the areas of cognitive science, neuroscience, social science, public health, and psychology. By removing the most costly cognitive biases (groupthink, anchoring, pattern recognition, gender bias, etc.) from collaboration, Balloonr is able to surface previously unreachable knowledge.”
Balloonr received $100,000 as its prize for being in first place. Quarters was named second place winner and received $75,000 as well as meeting with Tim Draper. Neopenda and VisuWall tied for third place with prizes of $50,000 each.
