Update: Crate Brewery Set to Close Crowdcube Round With More Than 800,000 in Funding

Crate Brewery, a microbrewery and pizzeria located at The White Building in London’s Hackney Wick,  is set to close its equity crowdfunding round on Crowdcube with more than 800,000 in funding from nearly 1220 investors. Founded in 2012, Crate claims it has become one of the busiest craft breweries and taprooms in the UK. The bar serves its own range of beers along with pizza. The brewery also distributes to customers throughout the UK.

We started life in July 2012 with a dream of creating the ultimate craft beer and food experience. We wanted to create a place where people would come and be free to enjoy themselves, to drink, eat, dance, connect, and share, in an environment that was stimulating and fun. So we opened CRATE, a microbrewery and pizzeria, producing full-flavoured and accessible beers alongside hand rolled pizzas. We now have the chance to turn our already wonderful space into a true mecca for craft beer fans and a proper hub for creativity.”

Crate also reported that it has achieved £3.95 million turnover in FY 2018 with an EBITDA of £88,000. The brewery recently invested in sales and marketing heads and extended the lease on its venue to set the foundations for future growth.

Funds from the Crowdcube campaign will be used to enable Crate to add a state of the art brewery for experimentation and innovation, open a new restaurant with dishes inspired by a new culinary thinking, open a new event space and with year-round cultural events, double it taproom to 8000 sq ft and build 1000 sq ft affordable workspace as well as an incubator. The funding round is set to close on Sunday.
