Payments Platform Wirex Launches £1 Million Crowdfunding Campaign

Wirex, a UK-based payments platform, announced on Monday it launched its first crowdfunding campaign through equity crowdfunding platform Crowdcube. Wirex reported it is now seeking to raise £1 million.

Founded in 2014, Wirex is a UK FCA-licenced global digital payment platform that has forged new rules in the digital money arena. The company also claims it is the only platform that allows access to OTC and interbank rates for crypto and traditional currency exchanges respectively, ensuring our users always get the best deal.

Wirex recently announced it received its first money transmission license in the U.S. from the State of Georgia Department of Banking and Finance. According to Wirex, the license will allow them to engage in the business of money transmission serving the population of the state and marks an important milestone in the payment company’s push to offer its services to the U.S. population. Wirex currently serves three million customers across 130 countries.

While sharing more details about the campaign, CEO and Co-Founder of Wirex, Pavel Matveev, stated:

“Wirex has been making huge strides in changing the financial landscape, by making it easier for everyone to access cryptocurrency and spend it in the everyday. By offering a platform that bridges the traditional and digital economy, we are helping to encourage the mass adoption of cryptocurrency for future generations.”

Luke Lang, Co-Founder of Crowdcube, went on to add:

“Over the years fintech has proven to be our most popular sector for investment so I am excited to see Wirex, who is on a mission to take cryptocurrency into the mainstream, raise with Crowdcube. It’s great that their loyal customer-base and fans will have the opportunity to buy a stake in this innovative company.”
